Malaysia’s tourism agency seeks to lure locals

The Malaysian Tourism Authority is teaming up with Airlines and travel firms over new packages to draw more Vietnamese to that country in a campaign, and has launched a program for the Vietnamese public to vote for Malaysian destinations.
 

The agency launched a Malaysia tourism website on July 21 for the public to vote for tourist attractions in Malaysia. The selection will last to December 31, and the monthly prize will be a free three-day tour to that nation. There will be also three special prizes, which are a four-day trip to Malaysia, after all. 

The authority we be running a “Discover Malaysia” campaign at big trading centers in HCMC in August to further promote Malaysia’s tourist attractions. Participants will be provided information about the country and a chance to win tours there.

At present, the agency is working with Malaysia Airlines to offer the three-day package "Malaysia Stopover Special Promotion" and the three-day tour "Discover Malaysia Pass" to Kuala Lumpur.

The “Malaysia Stopover Special Promotion” starts from US$110 per person while the other costs from US$199.

Meanwhile, Brunei Airlines is offering a four-day package tour comprising of destinations in Malaysia and Brunei at a cost from US$619. This tour can be booked at local travel companies including Saigontourist

Last year, Malaysia attracted about 120,000 Vietnamese tourists, increasing by around 88% on 2006, according to Malaysia's statistics.
