VND 30 billion more poured in tourism promotion

The Vietnamese Government approved an immediate disbursement of VND 30 billion on July 18th for tourism promotion in order to attract more tourists, considering it one of the solutions to curb inflation according to the National Tourism Administration (NTA).

The Head of the Travel Department, Vu The Binh, said that in the third quarter of this year, the NTA will launch an advertisement campaign, worth about VND 16 billion, on four well known international TV channels, including CNN, Discovery, KBS (the Republic of Korea) and NHK (Japan), along with newspapers in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and China.

The NTA plans to co-ordinate it’s campaign with travel agencies that promote Vietnam in nearby markets through travel promotion events in ASEAN, Japan, China, Australia, Taiwan (China), caravan tours and the “ASEAN Common Destination” programme.

In addition it will either organize, or jointly host, culture-tourism shows in the US, Russia, France, England and invite foreign travel agencies and newspapers to come and conduct surveys or fact-finding trips in Vietnam.

For the first half of this year, more than 2.28 million international tourists have visited Vietnam, 8.1% more than that in the same period last year. However, the number of Chinese visitors fell by 7.6%, the number of Japanese tourists by 3.6%, Korean tourists by 6.6% and American tourists by 3.5%.
